Ward 5 Newsletter - December 2024

Updated: Dec 12, 2024

Items of Note for Monday’s, December 9th City Council Meeting:

  1. Public hearing on the accepting $500,000 on a Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant towards a new skatepark at Everett Arena. The Grant has a 50/50 match requirement and the City will be working with the nonprofit Concord Skatepark Association and community partners to help raise the match requirement. There will be no construction until all matching dollars are received. Report

  2. Public hearing on $405,000 for police officer retention and retroactive overtime wage payments. The Department is down 21% in staffing; these funds continue a temporary stopgap measure for future employee loss. Report

I'll be at these events - connect with me!

'Tis the Season to be Jolly!

Scene from Ward 5 'the Hill':

Homes built in one of Concord's oldest neighborhoods enjoy a view of steeples, spires, and the State House dome. On an overcast winter day, these serve as beacons for community and connection.

Books I am reading: What the Chicken Knows by Sy Montgomery. Ebook, Audiobook and hard copy book available at the Concord Public Library.

The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Ebook, Audiobook and hard copy book available at the Concord Public Library.

Wishing you a happy, holiday season!
