A Full Measure and List of all properties is necessary to maintain fair and equitable assessments. It was last completed in 1990; 34 years ago. New Hampshire’s laws require cities and towns to complete a revaluation at least once every five years; the last city-wide revaluation was conducted in 2021.

An updated revaluation will determine accurate and equitable values for all properties within the City to create an equitable distribution of property taxes, based on market value. The new Revaluation assessments will be announced in the summer of 2026 and finalized prior to the final 2026 property tax bill (December 2026).

The Assessing Agent will be inspecting your property to verify Information listed in the Assessing Departments database and record all improvements made to your property, both interior and exterior, that affect the value. They will do this by taking measurements and pictures, conversations with property owners, verifying the exterior measurements of the buildings and improvements such as sheds, patios, generators and in-ground pools, as well as inspecting the interior of buildings to verify and update the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, flooring, wall finishes, finishes in the kitchens, baths, other rooms, units and the overall condition of the property.
